Graduation for Phoenix Job Corps Students!
(August 16, 2018 – Phoenix, AZ) – Over 100 students will be graduating from Phoenix Job Corps August 17, 2018. Students will be entering the workforce in all nine trades including Certified Medical Assistant, Certified Nursing Assistant, Cement Masonry, Facilities Maintenance, Cement Plaster, Office Administration, Carpentry, A+ Computer Repair and Homeland Security.

“I’ve enjoyed watching these students grow,” said Phoenix Job Corps Center Director Walker Evans, Jr.
“I’m excited for them as they begin their new journey into the workforce, college or military. Each of these students has worked hard in achieving their goals and I wish them much success as they begin this new chapter in their lives.”
The commencement speaker, Phoenix Job Corps volunteer Robert Pipkin, Ph.D., is a job corps graduate and motivational speaker, former college professor and professional basketball player. He has spoken at the White House and has been interviewed by USA Today, The New York Times and LA Times.
“I see a lot of youngsters who remind me of myself,” says Pipkin. “I had some challenges as a young man. I didn’t do well in school but some people made a difference in my life including a teacher. As a volunteer, my goal is to talk to students about their challenges.”
About Phoenix Job Corps: Job Corps is the nation’s largest and oldest federally funded education and job training program for young adults, ages 16-24. Nearly 60,000 students enroll annually at 125 Job Corps Centers across the country. Since opening the first center, the program has trained more than 3 million young people. Administered by the U.S. Department of Labor and operated by the Education Management Corporation, The Phoenix Job Corps Center opened in 1969.
A typical day at Phoenix Job Corps Center is full of activities to help our students prepare for the real world. Students get up early and spend the majority of their day receiving academic and hands-on career technical training. Independent-living dorms are available to students who qualify. We also serve nonresidential students. Students who live off campus are provided free transportation to and from our center.
