NEW TERMINAL

The Scottsdale Airport terminal and aviation business center are going away.  In their place will be two large executive-type hangar facilities and a new aviation business center.  The redevelopment was unanimously approved by the Scottsdale City Council.  Funding for the project will come from lease payments from private parties.  Construction is expected to begin in February 2017.

“Our recent master plan update and a subsequent market analysis told us clearly that we need more executive-hangar space,” says Aviation Director Gary P. Mascaro.  “We are excited about this new partnership, and the improvements it will bring to the airport.”

The estimated cost to build the new facility at Scottsdale Airport is $25 million.  The project will include a modern office complex, restaurant and two executive-hangars. This project also provides the opportunity to add amenities like a banquet/meeting facility and a parking garage.

The Scottsdale Airport originally was built to serve as a flight training school during World War II.  As part of the construction project, a nonprofit organization is raising money to add an art component to celebrate the airport’s history in World War II.

Handling about 133,000 landings and takeoffs every year, The Scottsdale Airport is the busiest single runway airport in the country.  Landmark Aviation and Scottsdale Air Center are the two fixed based operators of the airport.

NEW OFFICE BUILDING

For the first time in 5 years, Scottsdale Airpark is getting a new office building.  Bahia 101 will be a 40,000 SqFt, three-story structure at Bahia and the Loop 101.  It’ll feature spectacular 360-degree mountain views and offers suites ranging from 3,000 to 27,000 square feet, for sale or lease.

A unique design feature of the Scottsdale Airpark building is the inclusion of custom sliding doors on the second and third floors. First-floor occupants will have an optional lobby and private entrances for employees.
